I love the summer in New Jersey and being so close to the shore.  When it was time to settle our roots and make New Jersey our forever home, we knew we had to move further south.  Growing up on Long Island, I’m a beach girl at heart even though I have a massive phobia of tidal waves (a story for another time while driving in Ocean City we came across Ike’s Famous Crab cakes.  I believe, if you are going to name yourself “Famous” I hope you are top-notch.  I guess you can say that is one of my pet peeves.

Since we are in the new “normal” we still don’t feel comfortable sitting outside without our masks. Honestly, I wonder if we will ever start feeling comfortable.

We checked out the menu online and decided on the Monster Fried Clams for an appetizer, their Famous Crab Cake Sandwich for me, and a Grilled Grouper Sandwich for JC.  We were debating on ordering a side of Butterfly chips but both sandwiches came with them and coleslaw. Oh my, the food was really good and fresh.

When I was little I hated almost all fish. The only fish I would eat was tuna, fried/baked clams, and shrimp. Growing up in an Italian family that was really unheard of especially on Christmas Eve with the Seven Fishes. As I have grown my palate has changed. I’m still in love with all kinds of clams, shrimp and now I can say I’m a lover of crab, lobster, and calamari (the first time I had this I thought I was eating an onion ring, LOL). However, I am still getting used to eating Fish.

It’s great to know that Ikes’ is celebrating their 30th Anniversary.  Happy Anniversary!!!  The company was created around their famous crab cake, and they are really good.

All of their platters are huge and you can easily split between two. JC and I had lunch and dinner that night.

Check out these Monster Fried Clams.

They were so big the strips were bigger than my pinky finger.
